FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Two people are recovering from smoke inhalation Sunday night after a fire at the Hilton Garden Inn at 4025 Sycamore Dairy Road in Fayetteville.
Officials say the fire started in a commercial dryer around 6:30 p.m. in the first floor laundry room and was extinguished by the automatic sprinkler system.
Fire crews made sure it was out and then began to remove smoke from the building. The fire was contained to the laundry room.
An employee and a resident suffered smoke inhalation and the resident was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
The hotel had minor damage and management decided to move 30 guests to another hotel. The Hilton Garden Inn is expected to reopen Monday.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
