Police: Man charged with raping fellow Fort Bragg soldier

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (WTVD) -- A 26-year-old man is charged with first-degree rape and kidnapping after he reportedly sexually assaulted a member of his Army unit on Fort Bragg.



Detectives arrested Johnathan Simpson, of Moonstone Court, for the April 25 sexual assault. Police said it happened in the 1000 block of Bragg Blvd.



Police said Simpson and the victim are assigned to the same Army unit.



Detectives with the FPD's Special Victims Unit were assisted in the investigation by agents of the Army's Criminal Investigation Division (CID).



Simpson was apprehended at his unit on Ft. Bragg with the assistance of Ft. Bragg Military Police. Simpson was processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center where he is being held on a $250,000 secured bond.
