NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVD) -- More than six inches of rain fell near Nashville, Tenn. early Wednesday morning, causing widespread flooding.

Several roads were submerged across the metro area.

A mother and her daughter had to be rescued by emergency officials when more than four feet of standing water surrounded their home. Luckily, both escaped without injury.

Trousdale County was one of the worst areas hit.

Cars floated hundreds of feet away from their original parking spots. The intense rain also caused a road to buckle, forcing officials to close it to traffic.
