Video of momma bear and 4 cubs in Banner Elk goes viral

BANNER ELK, N.C. (WTVD) -- Why did the bears cross the road? To get to the other side!

A video of a mother bear and her four cubs crossing a road in Banner Elk has gone viral.

The video was posted to the Grandfather Mountain Facebook page and has over 495,000 views along with over 8,000 shares.

Travis Platek filmed the video when he and his mother were coming back from the grocery store Sunday morning.

The US Forest Service says black bears average about 300 pounds and can move fast despite their size. They can also climb trees. Bears are naturally afraid of humans.
