DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham District Attorney Roger Echols said Tuesday he has found no probable cause to file charges in a September, 2015 officer-involved shooting that left 21-year-old La'vante Trevon Biggs dead.
Officers spoke to Biggs for over half an hour after getting a report he was suicidal and armed.
Echols said Biggs pointed a gun at officers before he was shot. It was later discovered that the gun was an Airsoft gun that looked just like a real firearm.
Echols said North Carolina law states that an officer is justified in using deadly force if he/she believes a person presents an imminent threat of death or serious physical injury to others.
