HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- Police are investigating after two men were injured in a shooting in Hillsborough on Wednesday night.

Authorities said it happened around 9:15 p.m. in the 200 block of Harper Street in the Fairview community.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a 38-year-old man with a gunshot wound inside a house. He was taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Police said a second victim, a 33-year-old man, was brought to the hospital by an unknown person and is in stable condition.

Investigators said the shooting happened outside of the house. A dark-colored sedan was seen leaving the area after the shooting and might be involved.

Police were also given information that the shooting is connected to prior incidents within the last month. Apparently, shots were fired into two homes in the same area of Harper Street. Investigators said different weapons were used in Wednesday's shooting, though.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator Jon Purvis or Sgt. Chip White in the Hillsborough Police Department Investigations Division by email or by phone at 919-732-9381, ext. 37 or 34. An anonymous crime tip may be submitted through the town's website.
