Man killed in Wayne County ATV crash

PIKEVILLE, NC (WTVD) -- The North Carolina Highway Patrol says a man was killed when two ATVs collided in Wayne County.

Troopers got the call just after midnight Monday on Old Kenly Road.

They said two men were racing side-by-side down Old Kenly when one ATV driven by 47-year-old William C. Kearney swerved into the second ATV driven by 29-year-old Delbert Bohlander.

Kearney was killed.

Bohlander was not seriously injured.

Troopers said speed, reckless driving, and alcohol played a role in the crash.

Charges may be filed.
