FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Authorities in Fayetteville are searching for the suspect they say shot and killed a man who was sitting in a parked vehicle early Wednesday morning.
Police have charged 20-year-old Jamarqus Deonte Hurley with first-degree murder for the shooting death of Diquane McLamb, 20. Detectives said Hurley should be considered armed and dangerous.
Around 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, officers were called to the area near 816 S. Reilly Road after receiving a call about shots being fired. When they arrived, they found McLamb had been shot inside a vehicle that was in the parking lot of Discount Tobacco.
Authorities said the suspect, now identified as Hurley, walked up to the vehicle and shot McLamb while he sat inside of the car. Two other people who were also inside the vehicle were not injured.
McLamb, of the 6500 block of Jeffrey Drive, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives are actively looking for Hurley and are seeking the public's assistance.
