FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Authorities in Fayetteville are investigating the cause of a house fire that destroyed a home in the Kings Grant neighborhood Monday morning.

Just before 9:20 a.m., firefighters were called about a fire at 235 Shawcroft Road, off Ramsey Street.

Officials said 911 operators received several calls about an explosion being heard before the fire broke out.

When fire crews arrived, they saw heavy smoke billowing out of the home.

One person inside the home at the time was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Their condition is unknown at this time.

Images from the scene showed the entire roof of the house was damaged.

It is unclear what sparked the blaze.
