Durham man charged in gunfire at Burlington apartments

BURLINGTON (WTVD) -- Burlington police officers arrested a Durham man late Thursday night in connection with a shooting into an apartment building.

Police responded about 11:30 p.m. to reports of gunshots in the 1500 block of S. Mebane Street.

Officers found shot had been fired into an apartment building at this address and also into an unoccupied vehicle and an occupied apartment.

Officers arrested Robert Everett, 20, of Durham near the shooting scene.

Police said the investigation revealed that Everett had been at one of the apartments earlier but left after an argument. He allegedly returned with a gun.

Everett has been charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling, violation of a domestic violence protection order, assault with a deadly weapon, injury to personal property, discharging a firearm in the City of Burlington and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Everett remains in Alamance County Jail under $470,000 secured bond.
