LOS ANGELES -- A 4-month-old girl died from injuries sustained in a three-vehicle crash Saturday night on a freeway in Los Angeles, authorities said.
Four people were injured in the crash and a driver was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI causing injuries, the troopers said. He was identified as Jared Silvestri, 26, of Pasadena.
Investigators said Silvestri was traveling at a high rate of speed on the northbound 110 just south of the 5 Freeway around 6:37 p.m. when he struck a 2006 Chrysler that was slowing down and moving to the right shoulder.
Both vehicles careened out of control and hit a third car that was also traveling northbound on the 110, troopers said.
Four people, including Silvestri, were hospitalized with injuries following the crash.
The infant who died was in the 2006 Chrysler. A 10-year-old in the vehicle was also injured, as was the driver, a 48-year-old woman.
The driver of the third vehicle, a 35-year-old man from Denver, was not injured.
