RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Two DOT workers were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car on I-440 East at Capital Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon. Police originally said only one person was hit but later reported that it was two male victims, ages 44 and 46.
Darrick Bridges, 44, was struck and pinned between the car and an N.C. DOT truck. Kelly Lewis, 46, was struck by the car and knocked over a highway guardrail, police said Tuesday evening.

Police say the workers were caught between the car and a stationary maintenance truck.
It happened about 1:25 p.m. They were taken to WakeMed along with the 44-year-old female driver of the car.

That driver, Angela Renee Roland, of Morrisville was taken to the Wake County Detention Center immediately after her release from WakeMed. She was charged under a section of the state's "move-over" law that applies to incidents involving death or serious injuries.
The investigation is continuing, police said.
