Burlington man, 75, sentenced for child pornography

BURLINGTON, North Carolina (WTVD) -- A Burlington man who pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography was sentenced Thursday in Greensboro.

Harold Wayne Lail, 75, pleaded guilty June 5 to one count of receipt of child pornography.

Lail, of the 700 block of W. Davis Street, was sentenced to 60 months imprisonment followed by 10 years supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $30,500 in restitution and forfeit an Apple iMac and several storage devices containing child pornography.

Investigators searched Lail's home on June 30, 2016, after discovering that someone tried to access child pornography using his IP address. They found thousands of images and videos of child pornography on a computer and storage devices in his home.

The case was investigated by members of the North Carolina Internet Crimes against Children (ICAC) Task Force, including Homeland Security Investigations and the Burlington Police Department.
