6-year-old drowns in North Carolina hotel pool

MORGANTON, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Authorities say a 6-year-old died in a hotel pool in western North Carolina in what police say was an accidental drowning.

Officials with the Morganton Department of Public Safety said the boy drowned Saturday night in an indoor pool at a Comfort Inn & Suites.

City officials said the child was visiting for a baseball tournament.

So far no charges have been filed.

The incident remains under investigation.

Morganton is about 60 miles east of Asheville.
