Autumn Fest draws thousands to historic downtown Mebane

MEBANE, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Despite overcast skies, people from miles around made the pilgrimage to historic downtown Mebane for Autumn Fest.

Unlike last year when Hurricane Matthew drenched and blew away the festival, the skies held off for many to enjoy.

Nestled among the unique collection of antique stores, boutiques, coffee shops, and restaurants was the town's traditional autumn festival.

There was a lot to do at the downtown street fair with antiques, arts & crafts, and over 60 select vendors.

The thousands who attended Saturday's festival enjoyed live music from Drew Foust, Torn Corners, Gypsy Heart, The Ends, and Ben Sutton.

There was a farmer's market to get something from the late harvest. Children enjoyed the "Kid Zone," which included pony rides and a petting zoo. Two lanes of bowling were set up on Fourth Street for kids to try to get a strike.

And, Mebane Presbyterian Church had a booth, where people could finish blankets for local children in need by tying simple double knots.

Downtown Mebane certainly had something for everyone.
