Standoff that led to evacuation of Durham businesses over

DURHAM (WTVD) -- The Durham Police Department said a standoff with a man in the 600 block of Ellis Road is over and people in nearby businesses will be allowed to return to their jobs.

The incident began mid-morning Friday and ended just before 1 p.m.

The unidentified man was threatening to hurt himself and others.

Officers said he eventually came out on his own and nobody was hurt.
