Cumberland County votes in favor of controversial poultry plant

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Cumberland County Commissioners took another step forward on Monday to try and bring a controversial chicken plant to the area.

Commissioners voted 4-3 to approve incentives for Sanderson Farms.

In early February, more than 150 people voiced their opinions on the issue during a heated meeting in Fayetteville.

Even though Cumberland County has approved the incentives, it is unclear if Sanderson Farms is even considering the county for a poultry plant.
