FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Cumberland County Sheriff's detectives are looking for a woman they say starved her two dogs, killing one and burying it in the backyard.
Animal Control Officials received a tip that a Fayetteville woman, Quorcika Thomas, had buried her pit bull Princess in her backyard at 313 Nugget Court.
The person who called said Princess had died under "suspicious circumstances."
Thomas refused to let Animal Control officers onto her property. When officers returned with a search warrant, they found the remains of a tan and white pit bull mix buried in the backyard.
An examination of the dog revealed that she had been starved to death. Examiners said Princess has no other diseases or conditions that could have caused her to die.
Officers took another dog, malnourished but alive, from the property.
Detectives issued a warrant for Thomas' arrest after the dog's cause of death was discovered.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Quorcika Thomas is urged to call the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at (910) 323-1500, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Property Crimes Unit at (910) 677-5455, or Fayetteville/Cumberland County Crimestoppers at (910) 483-8477.
