Four charged in Sanford gang rape of 14-year-old

SANFORD, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Lee County Sheriff's Office says it has charged four teens in the gang rape of a 14-year-old girl.

The alleged attack happened April 21.

Miguel Angel Alvarez, 17, of Sanford; Oliver Hernandez, 16, of Sanford; an unnamed 15-year-old; and an unnamed 14-year-old are all charged with first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping, and first degree sexual offense.

The two older teens were being held on $200,000 bond. The two younger teens were being held at a juvenile facility.

Further details about the incident were not made public and it is ABC11 policy not to identify the victims of sexual assault.
