A 5 foot alligator that was reported stolen from its enclosure at a Johnston County home has been found.

Todd Crocker called authorities last Friday after returning home and noticing one of his three alligators was gone.

Tire tracks near the alligator pen suggested it may have been stolen rather than escaping out of its enclosure. Its pen was found secured.

But Crocker said he found the reptile on his property Tuesday and returned it to its pen.

Officials said Crocker has the necessary permits to raise snakes and alligators on his property on Mudham Road, which is between N.C. Highway 96 and N.C. Highway 231.
