SC trooper fired after arrest in child porn investigation

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- A veteran South Carolina state trooper is out of a job after being arrested on child pornography charges.

Multiple media organizations reported the South Carolina Department of Public Safety terminated 39-year-old John Lee Marshall Lillard. State Attorney General Alan Wilson said Lillard was charged with 14 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. The charges involve producing, duplicating or possessing child pornography.

Lillard had worked with the department since 1999. He worked at the state patrol's post in Aiken.
