Suspects sought in robbery near NC State's campus

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Authorities in Raleigh are searching for three suspects after a man reported being robbed near North Carolina State University's campus late Monday night.

It happened just before midnight in the 1400 block of Varsity Drive, near Fraternity Court.

Raleigh police said a person reported being approached by three teenaged suspects, who were carrying a knife and a handgun, while getting out their vehicle to visit a friend.

The suspects allegedly assaulted the victim and rummaged through the vehicle.

The three suspects took some money and personal items before fleeing on foot towards a nearby apartment complex.

They were described as three African American men.

The first suspect stood about 5' 4" tall, and was wearing a black sweatshirt and sweatpants, and a beanie cap. He had dreadlocks and was armed with a handgun.

The second suspect, reportedly standing 5' 10" tall, was wearing a black sweatshirt and sweatpants and was armed with a knife.

The third suspect was described as having a thin build, shaved head, and was wearing a green sweatshirt and black sweatpants.

Raleigh police said it was unknown if the victim was a student at NC State University.
