Authorities say Sampson County man dies in house fire

CLINTON, N.C. -- Authorities say a Sampson County man has died in a house fire in Clinton.

Multiple news outlets report the fire happened Saturday night. Authorities say firefighters and emergency workers were called to the home just after 10 p.m.

Officials say the man was in the house with his daughter and grandson when crews arrived. Authorities have not released their names.

Authorities say the man's daughter and grandson made it out of the house with minor smoke inhalation.

The Red Cross was assisting.

It's unclear what caused the blaze, but an investigation is ongoing.
