Morel was just a few houses away from his home, where he lived with his parents - Cindy and Charles.
"Why? They always say it takes time. I'd rather he be here," Cindy Morel cried.
She said her son had been helping the church prepare for a BBQ on Friday.
"They were setting up tables and getting ready for their annual fundraiser this week," Cindy Morel said.
She said her son loved giving back, and making others laugh.
He will be buried at the church, near where the accident happened.
No charges in connection with his death have been filed at this time.
