Body found in Butner identified

BUTNER, N.C. (WTVD) -- Officers have identified a man found dead in a dumpster in Butner.

Police say the man is 59-year-old Jerry Lee Curtis.

They were called to an abandoned fast food restaurant on N.C. Highway 56 around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday after a worker saw a body in a dumpster pit while trimming a nearby tree.

Officers think Curtis had been dead at least 24 hours.

They say there were no obvious signs of foul play and no evidence of trauma to the his body.

Drug paraphernalia was found at the scene.
