Child hit by car in Raleigh identified
Police are investigating after an 8-year-old boy was hit by a car on Rock Quarry Road in Raleigh.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Police are investigating after a child was hit by a car in Raleigh late Monday morning.

It happened on Rock Quarry Road in the area of Crosslink Road around 11:15 a.m.

Police said 8-year-old Jahlen Williams was crossing the street with mother, and was not in a crosswalk, when he was hit by a car driven by 29-year-old Dantrail McAllister.

Jahlen was rushed to WakeMed with what are described as life threatening injuries. He was last listed in critical condition.

Many motorists in the area called 911.

911 Caller: "A child has been struck by a car."

911 Caller: "We're going to try to do CPR on him but I don't think it's going to work."

Witnesses said the Jahlen and his mother had just gotten off of a CAT bus when the boy was struck.

No charges have been filed.
