Church construction causes gas leak in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Construction on a new church in Fayetteville caused a gas leak Thursday afternoon.

Authorities said it happened at 9701 Cliffdale Road, near Royal Gorge Road. The Fayetteville Fire Department said that the location is a construction site for a new church.

Officials on the scene said the gas line was cut during construction. The surrounding area has been secured, according to the Fire Department.

Crews are waiting for the Piedmont Gas Company to seal the leak.

No injuries have been reported.
