DURHAM (WTVD) -- A drug deal caught on camera at the Durham County courthouse has landed a court clerk on the wrong side of the law.
Investigators with the Durham County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened on April 15 on the third level of the courthouse parking deck.
Investigators said they got a tip the day before about possible drug related activity, so they monitored surveillance cameras in the parking deck the next day.
They said they observed Meghan Dempsey, a then-Durham County court clerk, meeting with a man later identified as Dominic Speed of Durham.
With the help of a K-9 unit, the Sheriff's Office said heroin was recovered from Dempsey's personal vehicle that was parked in the deck.
Investigators also allegedly found drugs and money on Speed. He's facing several charges including possession with intent to sell and distribute heroin.
Dempsey was charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.
A spokesperson with the Administrative Office of the Courts said Dempsey has since been terminated from her clerk position.
