WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) -- Authorities say the driver of a Jeep and another person were injured early Monday morning when the SUV drove erratically through a Wake Forest restaurant parking lot.

It happened at the Carolina Ale House on Northpark Drive.

Police told ABC11 that the driver, 24-year-old Carl Stancil -- along with four passengers; 22-year-old Amber Castleberry, 34-year-old Billy Cromartie, 24-year-old Brittney Flandreau, and 29-year-old Christopher Hilliard -- was "operating the vehicle recklessly" when the Jeep Wrangler hit a curb in the parking lot.

Stancil was ejected from the SUV, which did not have any doors on it.

Authorities said the Jeep then ran over Stancil and hit a second curb, causing it to speed uncontrollably through a grassy area to another parking lot.

The vehicle continued to go until one of the passengers got into the driver's seat and applied the brakes.

Stancil and Cromartie were seriously injured and taken to WakeMed by EMS. Stancil later died at the hospital, while Cromartie remains hospitalized in fair condition.

No charges have been filed.
