Durham police arrest suspect in bank robbery

DURHAM (WTVD) -- UPDATE: Police arrested Michael Wood Saturday night on North Driver Street.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Durham police are searching for the person who robbed the PNC Bank on N. Roxboro Street on Saturday morning.

Police identified the suspect they're looking for as Michael Hugh Wood, 45, and charged him with one count of common-law robbery. Officials said he is also wanted on charges in Wake County.

Police said Wood entered the bank around 10:10 a.m. and gave the teller a note demanding money. No weapon was seen, and the suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money. Police released surveillance photos from the scene.

Wood was described as a white man in his 60s wearing a black hoodie and torn jeans. He may have left the bank in a white Ford Taurus.
