DURHAM (WTVD) -- After investigating a suspicious package in Durham, the Sheriff's Office's Hazardous Devices Unit determined that someone had placed two gas cans separately in the road.
The HDU responded to a report of a suspicious package in the road in the 1100 block of Englewood Avenue in Durham around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Law enforcement officials cordoned off the area as a precaution, and HDU technicians examined the items while the Bio-Chemical Emergency Response Team (BCERT) tested the liquid inside the cans.
Durham Police officers were also at the scene near W. Knox Street and Watts Street.
