FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Fayetteville police arrested a suspect wanted in a string of convenience store robberies.

38-year-old John Michael Volpicelli was taken into custody Saturday night.

He was taken to the Cumberland Detention Center under a $25,000 bond.

Volpicelli is charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon. At the time of his arrest, Volpicelli had other warrants from unrelated cases. The outstanding warrants were for felony larceny, possession of stolen property, and felony conspiracy. The Hope Mills Police Department also charged Volpicelli with robbery With a dangerous weapon and second degree kidnapping in connection to a robbery in their jurisdiction.

Authorities said Volpicelli robbed the Kangaroo convenience store in the 2300 block of Owen Drive around 12:30 a.m Saturday.

Police released an image from the surveillance footage to the media, which they later identified.

Volpicelli pulled a white skeleton mask over his face and had a black semi-automatic style pistol during the robbery, according to authorities.

Police believe the Volpicelli also robbed a Kangaroo in the 1900 block of Cedar Creek Road on Thursday night using the same mask and gun.

Volpicelli may also be a suspect at a convenience store robbery at Hope Mills Road and Rockfish Road Saturday morning.
