CARY, N.C. (WTVD) -- A grieving community came together on Sunday to say their farewells to a 9-year-old Cary boy, who was struck and killed by a vehicle while riding his bike.

A funeral service was held for Paul Pham Dang at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Raleigh. About a hundred people attended the service and offered their support to his family.

Paul was a member of the church and part of the youth group.

One of the third grader's Youth Directors tells ABC11 this community is still reeling from the loss.

"It was difficult, I'm sure it's going to continue to be difficult. But with the support and the love, we're getting by," said Binh Nguyen, Youth Director for Our Lady of La Vang Parish.

Dang was injured Tuesday night near the intersections of Poplar Street and Maple Avenue. After investigating the accident, Cary Police said charges would not be filed against the driver who hit the boy.

The community is rallying around the family and helped with funeral expenses. Friends of the family started an online fundraising page. In less than a week, more than $35,000 was raised for the 9-year-old's funeral.
