High school student dies in accident on US 70 in Durham
Authorities are investigating a serious accident in Durham that left Hillside High School student Chase Kyshann Booker dead.

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Authorities are investigating a serious accident in Durham that left Hillside High School student Chase Kyshann Booker dead.

It happened around 7:20 a.m. Sunday at U.S. Highway 70 and Laurel Drive.

Investigators say Booker was driving too fast when he hit a curb and over-corrected, causing the car to flip several times.

Durham Public Schools released the following statement from Hillside principal Dr. William Logan: "All of us at Hillside High were saddened to learn of the loss of one of our students over the weekend. We are keeping Kyshann and his family in our thoughts and prayers. Durham Public Schools counselors will be available for our students and staff to help us through this difficult time. We ask that the privacy of our students, staff and families be respected at this sensitive time.
