House fire displaces 10 people in Durham

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Durham firefighters battled a blaze on Gray Avenue on Saturday afternoon that displaced 10 people.

The Durham Fire Department was dispatched to the 700 block of Gray Avenue around 4:30 p.m. Fire crews reported an active blaze in a single-story residence that had started in the kitchen.

Crews had the flames under control within minutes of arrival, but areas above the stove had incurred heavy fire damage. The rest of the house had significant smoke damage.

No injuries were reported, but six adults and four children were displaced. They will be assisted by the American Red Cross.

Crews are investigating the cause of the fire.
