DUNN, NC (WTVD) -- Harnett County school officials say bottled water is being provided to students at two elementary schools after routine testing uncovered slightly elevated lead levels.

Parents were notified with a letter sent home Friday.

Tests for water quality were done for all schools in the district over the summer. Officials said the elevated levels were found in a couple of places in the buildings, but not the kitchen areas.

Erwin Elementary was originally built in 1926 and upgraded in 1948. It houses grades 3-5. Benhaven was built in 1924 and upgraded in 1936 and 1948.

Benhaven is the next school scheduled to be replaced in the county and the school board is currently working on plans for a new school.

Last month, officials in Cumberland County said they were taking steps after lead was found in old paint at a school in the district.
