A man was arrested Saturday for an alleged sex assault

FAYETTEVILLE -- Fayetteville police arrested a man Saturday in connection with a reported sexual assault.

Police received a call about a disturbance around 7:25 a.m. in the 1600 block of Tysor Drive.

Investigators said it appeared a woman was sexually assaulted by a man she knew, and that man had fled the area.

Detectives identified the suspect as 30-year-old Dominic Cordale Tearry. Police said Tearry was arrested at his residence without incident.

Tearry has been charged with first-degree kidnapping, attempted first-degree rape, attempted first-degree sex offense, and felony strangulation. Tearry is facing several other assault charges in connection with this incident.

Tearry was processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center where he remains under a $700,000 secured bond.
