FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- A Fayetteville man facing murder charges alongside his fiancee has been extradited to North Carolina from Colorado, authorities said Thursday.

Andrew Tomczak, 21, waived extradition for unrelated probation violation charges in Wake County, where he faced a number of drug-related charges.

Tomczak was arrested in Colorado last month alongside his fiancee Vanessa Sanchez. The two were recently charged in the murder of Sanchez's 18-month-old daughter, Violet Sky Cortez, who died earlier this year.

Tomczak and Sanchez both fought extradition for the murder charges. She remains jailed in Colorado, but Tomczak is now in the Wake County Detention Center. He has been served on the murder charges.

Authorities in Fayetteville said Tomczak will soon be transferred to Cumberland County, where he'll remain jailed as he awaits the next step in the murder case.
