One killed in downtown Raleigh crash
The car hit a guardrail.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A man is dead and a second seriously hurt after a crash in downtown Raleigh.

It happened along South Dawson Street near West Lenoir Street around 2:30 a.m.

Pictures from the scene showed a Honda hit a guardrail and it went right through the inside of the vehicle.

Police said the driver, 24-year-old Dominick Antoine Downing, was travelling at a high rate of speed and lost control right before the crash.

His passenger, 21-year-old Kaylen Lamaar Downing, was killed. Downing suffered life-threatening injuries and is being treated at WakeMed.
