Man rushed to hospital after midday shooting in Fayetteville
The shooting happened around 12:40 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Longhorn Drive in the Foxfire subdivision.

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Fayetteville police have new information about a shooting that sent a man to the hospital Saturday afternoon.

The shooting happened around 12:40 p.m. in the Foxfire subdivision.

Investigators say an unknown disturbance occurred in the roadway at the intersection of Wichita Drive and Longhorn Drive. During the disturbance, gun shots were fired and the black male victim ran a short distance before he collapsed in the 300 block of Longhorn Drive.

Fayetteville police have identified that young man as 21-year-old Zachary Carter.

At last check, the victim remains in serious condition at UNC Hospitals.

Authorities said Sunday that they now believe the shooting was not a random act. Detectives also said the suspect(s) may have fled in a silver vehicle.
