Must-See Videos: Woman pulled from burning car
The elderly woman hit a gas pump and caused the inferno

PORTLAND, Oregon (WTVD) -- Firefighters are crediting a bystander with saving a woman's life when he broke out a window and pulled her from a burning vehicle at a gas station in suburban Portland.

The elderly woman hit a gas pump with her car and it burst into flames.

Phillipe Bittar jumped out of his brother Raphael's moving car and ran to help the woman escape.

Through smoke and intense heat, he took a swing and broke the car window with his bare hand and pulled the woman from the vehicle.

Moments later, video shows the car completely engulfed in flames.

The woman was taken to a hospital to treat non-life-threatening injuries from smoke inhalation. Bittar was treated at the scene for minor cuts.

Fire officials say a gas station employee prevented the incident from escalating by quickly shutting off the main gas supply.
