RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Several businesses in North Carolina are being investigated for alleged price gouging in the wake of Hurricane Matthew.
The latest to get a subpoena is a car rental company. Attorney General Roy Cooper says his office got 8 complaints about the company, which has not been named. The AG's office says the rental company has multiple locations including Fayetteville, Lumberton, and Raleigh - where the complaints came from.
It was reported that the locations doubled their prices from about $30 a day to $60 per day after the storms and flooding came through.
Cooper's office is also looking into 3 other businesses including a motel that allegedly charged people over $300 a night.
Also being investigated is a Fayetteville business that reportedly sold a 24-pack of bottled water for $29.
