No chicken plant for Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- ABC11 has confirmed that Cumberland County will not sell land in its commercial park to Sanderson Farms for a controversial chicken plant.

The company wanted to build a $130 million processing plant east of Fayetteville. It would have meant 1,000 new jobs to the area.

Nearby residents and others opposed the plan saying it would foul the environment.
