FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- The Fayetteville Police Department has charged 36-year-old Darrell Edward Johnson in the murder of 60-year-old Linwood Scott Boahan Sunday.

Detectives said Boahan apparently died of blunt force trauma.

Both men were reportedly homeless at the time of the killing.

Johnson was being held without bond on first-degree murder and robbery charges.

The arrest came after police released surveillance video from the parking lot where Boahan's body was found Sunday morning.

The video, which begins at 3:41 a.m. Sunday, is from the Fayetteville Dream Center located off Ray Ave., across from the city's Festival Park. It's an outreach center for Manna Church.

Around 9:40 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the report of a man's body found between the back doors of the property.

Dream Center volunteers said Boahan had been coming to the safe haven over the past three months. He'd told them he'd had a falling out of sorts with a roommate.

"We would see him every day," said Dream Center director, Kelly Twedell. "He's always out front in the mornings 'cause he know we'll give him food and drinks, and so we joked he was our security in the mornings as we walked in the building."

Volunteers had last seen the victim Saturday when he received food, and youth volunteers had offered him assistance weeks prior.

"They provided him with a tent about three weeks ago," said Twedell. "He said he needed a tent."

The Surveillance video shows a slender black man wearing cargo pants and no shirt in the back parking lot of the Dream Center. The man is also wearing a light-colored mask and carrying a large object that looks like a brick or cinderblock.

The video lasts about three minutes, and shows the man pacing around the parking, removing, and replacing the mask on his face and walking toward the a back door of the Dream Center, where he places the object on the ground.

The entire video shows the 20 foot radius where the victim's body was located.

The final video clips show the man walking away from where he'd placed the object on the ground, then turning around as if he's returning to the area. The man walks out of the camera's view, before returning to the parking lot where he's seen running away from the Dream Center and into the wooded area behind the building.

Throughout the video the man repeatedly turns to look at something behind him.

On Thursday morning, a vigil will be held in front of the Dream Center to honor Boahan. It will be during the weekly Angel's Kitchen food giveaway, an event Boahan would frequent.
