Officials said a mother of two was killed in a house fire Saturday.

SANFORD, N.C. (WTVD) -- Sanford firefighters say a woman died inside a burning house on Saturday morning.

It happened at 417 W. McIntosh Street around 11 a.m. When the firefighters arrived, they said they could not see any flames.

When they entered the home the flames were already out, but it was clear that there had been a fire.

The victim has been identified as Tawana Baldwin, a mother of two. Family members said her two young boys were not at home at the time of the fire.

"She was sweet, outgoing, loving and she would hook your hair up, everyone just loved it," said Baldwin's neighbor Angela Kelly. "She never met strangers, everyone she came in contact with really loved her."

Fire officials suspect smoke inhalation was the cause of death, but an autopsy will be performed to rule out anything else.

Neighbors said she only lived in the house for a few weeks.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
