Police investigate armed robbery near UNC campus

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) -- Chapel Hill police are investigating an armed robbery that happened early Friday morning near UNC's campus.

Police said it happened around 2:30 a.m. on North Columbia Street near Isley Street.

A man and a woman were walking along the road when they were approached by two male suspects, police said. The suspects reportedly each had a handgun and were wearing hooded sweatshirts.

Authorities said the suspects shoved the victims against a fence, took money and property, and then walked away.

UNC sent an Alert Carolina message to students, faculty, and staff alerting them to the crime.
