Police: Lumberton woman fatally shot in her sleep

LUMBERTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A sleeping woman was killed early Thursday morning after someone shot a gun into her Lumberton home, police said.

Police say it happened around 3:25 a.m. at 110 Front Street.

56-year-old Mary Thompson was struck by gunfire while sleeping. She was taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center where she later died from her injuries.
