Search resumes for missing boater
Dive teams have been searching the water.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The search for a missing boater resumed Tuesday on Falls Lake.

Eyewitnesses told authorities they saw two people on board a boat, but then suddenly it was moving on its own.

A woman later identified as Tammy Albright was pulled from the water and taken to a Duke Hospital, but 69-year-old Claude Weaver Jr. remains missing.

It's not known whether the occupants of the boat were wearing life vests.

Officials tow the boat in question back to shore.

Crews, including a dive team and a K-9, spent hours searching for Monday. In total, 14 agencies including dive crews from Apex Fire and Durham County Sheriff were involved in the effort.

Wildlife officers are trying to learn what happened.

Neither Albright or Weaver were wearing life jackets according to officials.

"I can tell you that we found two personal flotation devices that we believe belonged to both occupants on the seat of the vessel," said Lt. David Barber with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission.

Barber said searcher have been challenged by wind, speed of the current in the water, and visibility.

"They're doing that by feel, and it does create a problem, slows things down. But we're hopeful that we can find him pretty soon," said Barber.
