ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WTVD) -- Authorities in Rocky Mount are investigating a shooting that killed one man and injured several others.

Authorities said one of the victims, 18-year-old Devonta Eburg, of Rocky Mount, died at the hospital from his injuries. The other victim, a 17-year-old, was treated and released.

ABC11 spoke to Eburg's girlfriend who said she is still in shock.

"He's gone, he's not coming back," said D'Naysia Dickens. "I didn't get to say nothing else to him."

A short time later, two other victims arrived at the hospital with injuries stemming from the incident. The pair, ages 21 and 26, were taken to Vidant Hospital in Greenville where they have been treated and released.

Nearby residents told ABC11 Friday that they fear the incident may be gang related.

Eburg's girlfriend says he was an innocent bystander, making it all the more senseless to her and his family.

"Why fight over colors, red and blue. It's just another color. What's the point? Why fight over streets. It's just a street," said Dickens. "You can't go nowhere no more. You can't be safe in your own yard. You can't be safe in your own parking lot."

An investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.

Police are urging anyone with any information about the shooting to call the Rocky Mount Police Department at (252)972-1411 or Detective John Denton at (252)822-2777.
