Trooper involved in crash in Johnston County

CLAYTON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A Highway Patrol Trooper turned into the path of a car early Wednesday morning as he attempted to pull another car over for speeding.

Trooper Daniel Sharpe was parked on the shoulder of Covered Bridge Road around 6:45 a.m. when he saw a vehicle traveling faster than the speed limit.

Sharpe turned on his emergency equipment and pulled onto the road, but he turned into the path of a car driven by Corrie Jermaine Whitley of Middlesex.

Both cars ended up on the shoulder of Covered Bridge Road.

Sharpe and Whitley received minor injuries. No charges were filed.
